Kareri Lake Trek
This lake is situated 9 kms. north-west of Dharamshala, in the district of Kangra. The freshwater lake is located around 3,000 meters / 10,000 ft. high above the sea level. It is a perfect weekend getaway if you want to switch off from your monotonous routine and get close to beautiful nature. Trek is formed by the flow of the water bodies which is coming from Minkiani top. The trail is rocky grassland along with Nyund nallah. You
will be facing a huge variety of terrains on this trek, ranging from straight roads to river crossings over wooden bridges and steep ascents.
Trek to Kareri Lake is one of the most scenic alpine treks in Himachal Pradesh that goes to several gushing streams and passes through green meadows. The lake remains frozen from early December to March–April. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shakti on a hilltop overlooking the lake. It is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Bhagsu Nag, the snake God and to Lord Shiva. A beautiful waterfall, well worth visiting, is located about 30 Minute walk from the Temple.
- Dal Lake-
It is a small lake located about 3 KM from Mcleodganj. An annual fair is held there in August or Sepetember, Attended mainly by GADDI Community.
- Triund-
Triund is the crown jewel of Dharmshala, situated in the laps of Dhauladhar Mountains. It has the perfect view of the Dhauladhar on one side and kangra valley on the other. It is a very popular trekking spot. It is a one-day trek 10 KM from Mcleodganj at the altitude of 2842 Mtrs.
